The PSA stands up for the interests of its 58,000 members on a wide range of public campaigns and issues. We campaign for better workplaces that are free of bullying, and for equal pay and conditions.
We have also run campaigns on rights for disabled workers, pensions and the work-life balance. And we are an outspoken opponent of privatisation and other trends that threaten the quality of New Zealand's public services.
For more details of our campaigns and issues read below or see the quick links on the side bar.
Campaigns
Keep our assets
The Council of Trade Unions and Grey Power have joined together to launch a petition calling for a referendum on the sale of assets. The PSA is fully behind this initiative. Find out more here.
Fairness at Work
We have joined forces with other unions to support the CTU’s Fairness at Work Campaign.
The campaign aims to protect New Zealand workers against Government plans to legalise unfair dismissals, require medical proof for every sick day taken and restrict employees’ access to union support. Find out more here
Disabiilty: Up where we belong
Residential and home-support services are characterised by low pay, inadequate training and lack of recognition for skills and experience.
Members of the PSA and Service and Food Workers Union are planning to make a difference through a nationwide campaign for decent pay and recognition of qualifications and experience.
