Can we check availability online?  And make a booking online?

Yes.  In September 2011 we launched a internet based booking system.  You can now browse availability and make bookings online.  You can also view more information on the individual units in each location.   Click here to be taken to the page.

Do I have to book a whole week?

No, if you are wanting a booking in the off-peak periods you can book anywhere from one night onwards. Peak periods such as school or public holidays you can book one to a maximum of seven nights.

Can I book more than one unit?

Yes, as long as it's not a peak period you can book two units per member. In the peak times you can only book one unit.

How can I make a booking?

You can:

  • book online by simply clicking here.
  • complete the booking form in the holiday homes brochure
  • email us on
  • call PSA plus on 0800 10 30 90
  • All mail, e-mails, and phone calls are cleared within 24 hours.

  • What are the peak periods?

All school holidays and public holidays are regarded as peak times. The demand for our homes at these times increases dramatically.

How far ahead do I need to book?

It depends on the time of the year you are wanting. Peak periods tend to book up three to four months in advance. Bookings open 6 months in advance.  We run a ballot/allocation exercise each August for the Summer School Holiday period.

When do I need to pay for my booking?

    Holiday home payment is required:
    (a) One month before occupancy if the booking is made more than one month before occupancy
    (b) Within ten working days before the first day of occupancy if the booking is made less than 30 days before occupancy
    (c) Immediately for bookings made within 10 days of occupancy.

If payment is not made when due, PSA reserves the right to cancel the booking without notice to allow another member’s booking to be confirmed.

Click here for the full terms and conditions of use.

How can I pay for my booking?

You can make payment either over the phone by Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.  You can also pay by cheque or by direct credit into our bank account (call PSA plus on 0800 10 30 90 for bank account details).

Is there a Cancellation fee when cancelling my booking?

A cancellation fee equal to one day’s rental will apply in the following cases:  (a) In the event that notice of cancellation is received less than ten working days before the first day of occupancy or  (b) If payment has not been made, the member is still liable for the cancellation fee.

If notice of cancellation is received ten working days or more before the first day of occupancy a full refund will be made.

Click here for the full terms and conditions of use.

How long does it take for a holiday home payment refund?

A credit card reversal can take 2-3 days to process and direct credits can take up to 5 working days from receipt of your bank account details.

Where do I get the key for the unit I have booked?

Once we have received payment you will receive an email advising the key holders details. If you are unable to get to the keyholder in the hours stated in the information, you need to advise PSA plus on 0800 10 30 90 to organise an alternative arrangement for the key.

What do I need to take when I go to these holiday homes?

You need to take your own sheets, pillowcases, towels, tea towels, toilet paper and cleaning agents.

Beds, blankets, pillows and duvets are all supplied at the units.

Can I book a holiday home for my family?

Yes, though we would prefer you to be an occupant of the home.

The member who makes the booking has overall responsibility for the home.

    Are cots and highchairs available?

Yes, all our homes in the South Island have a cot and highchair. The North Island homes have them available - please request them from PSA plus when making the booking either online or by phone. You will need to take your own cot blankets.

    Do you provide off-street parking?

Yes, we provide off-street parking for one vehicle per unit only. If you require parking for boats or trailers please contact PSA plus on 0800 10 30 90 to confirm if additional parking is available.

Can I bring my dog - its only a small dog?

No, no pets are permitted at the PSA holiday homes for various reasons. Most of all we want to make the stay comfortable for all members who may be using the homes during and after your stay.

Can I smoke in the units?

No, sorry the PSA holiday homes are smoke-free. You will need to go outside to smoke and use the ashtrays provided. Please be considerate of other members.

Do the homes have a telephone?

There are no telephones in any of our units. However, each location has a telephone available for use within a five minute walk. Rotorua has a telephone box behind the laundry and Raumati and Whitianga's phone is located in the laundry. There is good cellphone coverage at all our homes (which seems to be more and more common these days).

Do I have to clean the unit when I leave?

Yes, these units belong to you as a member. One way we can keep the cost of these units down is by cutting out the cost of servicing the units. Please refer to the check list on the wall in each unit before leaving to see all areas have been addressed.

There is a cleaning service on offer in Whitianga, Rotorua, Raumati, and Nelson homes costing $15-$30 per unit. If you require this service please call the relevant caretaker at least 24 hours before departure.

What happens if something goes wrong while I am in the unit or there is a problem with the unit?

Please contact the caretaker as soon as possible while you are staying in the unit. They are only a phone call away and live near to the homes. If it's something not requiring immediate attention on site, you can call PSA plus during office hours on 0800 10 30 90.

Can I pitch a tent in the garden of our unit?

This is not allowed due to the damage it causes to the grass and also the overcrowding and strain on the holiday homes facilities.

Do my PSA membership fees go towards the upkeep of the homes?

No. All costs are covered by holiday home income.

How does the Summer School Holiday Ballot work?

To give all memebers an equal chance in using the PSA holiday homes during the busy summer school holiday period we hold an allocation exercise (ballot).  Click here for more information and to enter.

    Ballot dates:

    Friday 19 December 2014 to Saturday 31 January 2015.

    Ballot opens
    Wednesday 30 April 2014

    Ballot closes
    Friday 8 August 2014 at 5:00pm

Is there a safe place I can park my car in Te Anau if I am planning on Tramping?

Yes - click here to see details of safe parking places.

Can I make comments on any part of the Holiday Home facilities/service?

You will be emailed a feedback form 3 days after your stay. You can also complete a feedback form online. We encourage your comments, whether good or bad, to help increase the standard of the homes or better the facilities and service we provide.
