The policy team operates at a senior level within the PSA and the primary role of the position is the development of PSA policy and strategy and responding to the policy needs of the union. Team members represent the PSA in a wide range of external forums. They provide policy papers and advice to the executive board and national secretaries. They advise and support the organising staff and keep the PSA aware of any potential issues that may arise in the future. CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
The Public Service Association, New Zealand’s largest trade union, is seeking a chief financial officer to manage the financial responsibilities of the organisation.
The primary role of the Chief Financial Officer is to advise and manage all financial aspects of the PSA and its subsidiaries (defined as “the Group”). This is a strategic role, working with a small team to deliver accurate day-to-day accounting, financial analysis, and advice. You will be responsible for all regular reporting to the board, annual budget preparation, statutory reporting obligations and overseeing the organisation’s investments.
The role provides leadership to the PSA Finance Team, to support the team in their roles, and to ensure that the team carries out their functions effectively and efficiently.
This role will suit a qualified chartered accountant who is interested in working in an organisation with a strong sense of purpose. You will be organised, able to work well with others, and your strong communications skills will be key in this collegial environment. Experience in reporting to a board will be an advantage.
This is a stimulating and challenging role for a chief financial officer and provides opportunities to extend your experience in areas such as property contract management and business development.
The salary package for this position is $132,935 to $143,902 and includes benefits such as employer subsidised superannuation up to 9%, five weeks annual leave, access to flexible working arrangements, allowances to support wellbeing. Legal Officers

The PSA has two Legal Officer vacancies, one full time position and a part time 0.5 FTE position. These are permanent positions preferably based in our Wellington Office as part of an experienced and high performing team.
We are looking for legal officers who are politically astute and supportive of the union movement, experienced in the application of employment law, committed to improving the quality of our members’ working lives and are able to travel throughout New Zealand. A legal officer will have the ability to hold a current practising certificate.
