The Ministry for Regulation consulted on a proposed Regulatory Standards Bill in late 2024 - early 2025. The PSA made a submission on the proposed Bill.

We are encouraged to see WorkSafe progressing a major piece of guidance on one of the most significant health and safety issues in New Zealand. The importance of psychosocial safety at work is acknowledged worldwide and an area of fast-growing research and practice. Aotearoa New Zealand must catch up and the Good Practice Guidelines is an important step into the right direction.

The PSA opposes the re-establishment of charter schools. The PSA believes that public services, including education, should be high quality, publicly owned, democratically controlled, responsive to local communities and accessible to all. Introducing charter schools is an active step backwards.

Te Rūnanga O Ngā Toa Āwhina strongly opposes the Government’s intent to repeal Section 7AA of the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989, which currently creates the duty for Oranga Tamariki to respect the Treaty of Waitangi (Te Tiriti) and report publicly on the measures taken to fulfil that obligation.
